Kawakawa Pounamu Chestplate (NZ Jade) - Xlarge
Double-sided, 120mm wide by 65mm long by 11mm thick, hand-carved genuine New Zealand Jade (Pounamu / Greenstone) pendant with adjustable black cord. The Kawakawa Pounamu comes from the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It has a unique, blackish stone pattern and a light-green to dark-green transition colour.
In my interpretation, the chestplate is like a shield, it represents strength and gives the wearer protection through life. This exact piece is quite a contemporary form, I carved it with ‘the less is more’ philosophy. The form is quite a nice touchstone, it felt like a flow of positive energy while carving it, it could be ideal for meditation.
